What is Purpose-Driven Events?
Purpose-Driven Events is a curated directory of learning and networking opportunities for professionals working at the intersection of business, social impact, and environmental responsibility.
We believe the right event, at the right time, can shift a career, accelerate a collaboration, or spark an idea that changes an organization. Our job is to surface those events and get them in front of the people who need them.
Purpose-Driven Events is produced by Sparx Publishing Group, a Vancouver-based media company focused on the impact economy.
What does “purpose-driven” mean?
A purpose-driven event is one that brings people together around a shared commitment to positive change, whether that’s environmental, social, financial, or cultural. We curate events across four focus areas:

We use a combination of automated discovery and editorial review to keep the directory current and high-quality.
Our system regularly scans event platforms, RSS feeds, and partner sources for new events in our four focus areas. Candidate events are flagged for review, and our editorial team checks each one against our quality criteria before approving it for publication.
We also accept direct submissions from organizers. Free submissions are reviewed by our team within two to three business days. Premium submissions receive the same review with enhanced placement options.
The approval process
- 1Submit: Organizer submits an event via the submission form or a URL.
- 2Review: Our editorial team verifies the event details, organizer legitimacy, and fit with our focus areas.
- 3Approve or Reject: Approved events are scheduled for publication. Rejected events receive a brief explanation.
- 4Publish: Events go live on the directory, searchable and browsable by category, format, and date.

Purpose-Driven Events is supported by organizations that share our commitment to positive change. We offer Lead and Supporting sponsor tiers, with placement options including homepage banners, featured event highlights, and card badges.
All sponsor placements are clearly labelled. We do not alter editorial decisions based on sponsorship.

It lists conferences, summits, workshops and webinars across Canada and internationally. Every event is reviewed by a human editor before publication. Nothing is listed automatically.
- What counts as a purpose-driven event?
- A purpose-driven event is a conference, summit, workshop or webinar whose main subject is social or environmental impact rather than a single industry's commercial concerns. In practice that means four focus areas: sustainability, social purpose, impact finance, and diversity, equity and inclusion. General industry conferences, trade shows and product launches are not listed, even when they include a sustainability track.
- Who runs Purpose-Driven Events?
- Purpose-Driven Events is produced by Sparx Publishing Group, a Vancouver-based media company focused on the impact economy. Editorial decisions are made by the Sparx team; sponsorship does not influence what is listed.
- How does an event get onto the site?
- An automated pipeline scans organizer sites, event platforms, iCalendar feeds and RSS daily and proposes candidates. Organizers can also submit directly. Both routes land in the same review queue, where an editor checks the details against the organizer's own page and confirms the event fits one of the four focus areas before approving it. Nothing is published automatically.
- How long does review take?
- Free submissions are reviewed and published within two to three business days. Premium submissions follow the same review, with featured placement starting as soon as the listing is approved.
- Does it cost anything to list an event?
- No. A standard listing is free and goes live within two to three business days of review. A paid premium listing is also available, which adds featured placement in the site's banner, priority position in search results, and a mention in the newsletter.
- Does sponsorship affect which events are listed?
- No. Sponsor placements are always labelled as sponsored or featured, and editorial decisions about what is listed are made independently of sponsorship.
- Which regions does the directory cover?
- Coverage is strongest in Canada, where the editors are based, and includes United States and international events that are relevant to a Canadian audience. Online and hybrid events are listed regardless of where the organizer is located.
- Where is Purpose-Driven Events based?
- Sparx Publishing Group is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples.
